With 33 years of experience, Dr. David Worsley is a highly respected ophthalmologist specialising in medical and surgical retina care. His extensive career has seen him contribute to the field of retinal care, both in New Zealand and internationally.

• MBChB, University of Auckland (1981)
• FRANZCO, Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (1986)
• Retinal Fellowship, Bristol Eye Hospital and Bristol University, England (1989-1991)

Dr. Worsley believes that successful patient care begins with a strong doctor-patient relationship. He takes the time to get to know patients and understand their concerns in order to provide care that is both medically sound and individually appropriate.

Active in the ophthalmology community, Dr. Worsley serves as a Trustee for Macular Degeneration New Zealand and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland. He has also held positions as the Past Secretary of the Save Sight Society of New Zealand and as a member of the Education and Qualifications Committee for the NZ branch of RANZCO.

When asked what he most enjoys about the profession, Dr. Worsley shares, "The field of retinal care has undergone enormous change since I entered it in 1991. Advances, such as drugs for macular degeneration since 2005, have revolutionised the field. I get huge satisfaction from now being able to prevent vision loss for so many patients with previously untreatable conditions. Many of these people I see regularly and have for a number of years. Eye care has a major impact on their daily lives, and I get to enjoy the journey of sight-saving treatment with them."
