Dr. Bheema Patil is an experienced ophthalmologist specialising in medical retinal disease, cataract surgery, general ophthalmology, pterygium surgery and refractive procedures such as laser (LASIK, PRK, SMILE) and lens replacement surgery.

With a career in ophthalmology that spans several continents, Dr. Patil speaks English, Hindi and Kannada. His education began in India and continued with higher specialist training in the UK in Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham, and Nottingham.

He stays at the forefront of the latest advancements in ophthalmology to provide patients with the most effective and up-to-date treatments, combining knowledge with a compassionate approach to ensure each patient feels cared for and supported.

Since 2008, Dr. Patil has served the Hamilton community as a specialist eye surgeon. He holds private clinics at Hamilton Eye Clinic, Laser Eye Centre and the Pohlen Hospital in Matamata, where he has made a significant impact on local communities. He is also an active member and fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Edinburgh.

Dr. Patil’s dedication to ophthalmology is matched only by his passion for life outside of medicine. He is deeply committed to his wife Sudha, a pathologist, and their adult son and daughter. When asked what he enjoys most about his job, he says “Giving patients the gift of sight and seeing the smile on their faces after a successful intervention.”
