About Verona’s career
Dr Verona Botha is a consultant ophthalmologist at Hamilton Eye Clinic and Waikato Hospital. She specialises in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery as well as general ophthalmology including cataract surgery.
Completed Medical school training at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. After moving to New Zealand developed a passion for ophthalmology. Completed ophthalmology training working in various centres around New Zealand, including Hamilton. Completed fellowship subspecialist training in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery at the West of England Eye unit and the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
Passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. Actively involved in research in oculoplastic topics. Regularly speaks at national and international meetings and have published a variety of papers in peer reviewed journals. Member of various RANZCO committees.
In my personal life I am passionate about photography and exploring interesting and beautiful places. I love hiking and water sports including kayaking and scuba diving
