Paediatric Ophthalmology covers any eye problem that occurs in children, particularly those related to the development of the visual system and the various diseases that disrupt visual development in children. Paediatric ophthalmology covers both clinic and surgical treatments, which include a great variety of treatments, geared specifically to best treat children and aid their visual development.
As well as children with obvious vision problems, children with head turns, tilts, squinting, or preferred head postures and adults with strabismus are often referred to a paediatric ophthalmologist for evaluation.
